Andy has almost twenty years experience of working in senior positions in NHS Providers and more recently in healthcare regulation.
As an accountant, Andy and has a strong financial background and has worked as a Deputy Director of Finance, but he brings a unique blend of experience having also worked in operational services and corporate governance.
Until April 2018 he was Director of Corporate Governance across Western Sussex Hospitals and Brighton and Sussex Hospitals having been appointed as part of the management team to support Brighton in exiting quality and financial special measures.
Andy has extensive project and programme management experience having led on transformation programmes in both the mental health and acute sectors.
Recent projects have, for example, seen him lead on reviewing clinical and corporate governance structures, at an acute trust, to design and implement a more robust and integrated approach to the management and oversight of risk.
Andy currently undertakes financial governance reviews for NHS I/E working alongside Heads of Hospital Inspection as part of a national NHSI/E and CQC joint programme. This see’s Andy operating across the South of England in challenged organisations to review governance arrangements and identify opportunities for improvement.
Prior to joining the NHS in 2003, where he started his career in the Surrey and Sussex Strategic Health Authority, Andy worked in a mix of public and private sector organisations.
To further develop his career Andy is building a portfolio of roles.
In addition to his work with NHSI/E he also supports an MSK Referral Management Serviceoverseeing performance and contractual requirements.
He holds an MBA as well as a PGC in Healthcare Governance from Manchester Business School.
